Qualification Credit Framework
Ballsbridge university adopted the QCF as good method of recognizing credits earned on vocational learning or distance education and self base learning .The QCF (Qualifications Credit Framework) is a new way of recognising skills and qualifications. It does this by awarding credit for units (small steps of learning) and enables learners to gain qualifications at their own pace along flexible routes.
The QCF has four main aims:
The QCF system is based on units which have credit value and levels (from Entry Level 0 to Level 8). One credit roughly equals 10 learning hours which allows the learners to evaluate how much time they will need to gain the desired qualification. The QCF system gives awards at any difficulty level from 1 to 8 which is due to the fact that it reveals the size of qualification and not its difficulty level. The latter is indicated by the title of qualification which, however, also reveals the size of the qualification and its subject.
Ballsbridge Qualification Framework
BQF is a standard publish by the Board of quality standards to recognize credits earned at educational institutions and professional education worldwide. Each qualification is matched to a level within the framework. All our BU qualifications recognized at levels with the framework. The BQF is an equivalent of QCF,NVQs,EQF and National Qualification framework in other countries.
Bachelor degree BQF credits 480 - equivalent of ECTS 240
Masters degrees BQF credits 180 - equivalent of ECTS 90
Doctorate degrees BQF credits 240 to 540 - equivalent of ECTS 120 to 270

Framework
The basic framework adopted is of three cycles of higher education qualification. As outlined in the Bergen Declaration of 2005, the cycles are defined in terms of qualifications and ECTS credits, which BU embraces along with the other signatories:
These levels are closer to the current model in the UK, Australia, Canada and Ireland than that in most of Continental Europe and BU in Dominica.
In Ballsbridge university Dominica, the basic framework has been harmonized and is now very similar, meeting with, and fully compliant to, the Bologna requirements:
The QCF has four main aims:
- To ensure a wider range of achievements can be recognised within a more inclusive qualifications framework
- To establish a qualifications system that is more responsive to individual and employer needs
- To establish a simpler qualifications framework that is easier for all users to understand
- To reduce the burden of bureaucracy in the accreditation and assessment of qualifications.

Framework
The basic framework adopted is of three cycles of higher education qualification. As outlined in the Bergen Declaration of 2005, the cycles are defined in terms of qualifications and ECTS credits, which BU embraces along with the other signatories:
- 1st cycle: typically 180−240 ECTS credits, awarding a Bachelor's degree.
- 2nd cycle: typically 90−120 ECTS credits (a minimum of 60 on 2nd-cycle level) awarding a Master's degree.
- 3rd cycle: Doctoral degree. No ECTS range given.
- 1st cycle: typically 240 BCTS credits, awarding an Bachelors degree.
- 2nd cycle: typically 90 BCTS credits (a minimum of 25 on 2nd-cycle level). Awarding a Master's degree.
- 3rd cycle: Doctoral degree. No BCTS range given.
